The CBT Institute is a treatment facility specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The CBT Institute was established in 2009 by Dr. Ohad Hershkovitz in order to provide Israelis a quick and effective treatment option which is widely accepted abroad but has yet to become mainstream in Israel. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a treatment standard in the U.S. and Europe for a wide variety of problems including all anxiety disorders, depression, communication problems, behavioral problems, etc. Although patients in the Western World are often referred directly to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for appropriate problems, in Israel awareness to – and referrals to – CBT are low, so that patients often receive less effective treatment or no treatment at all. Since its inception, the CBT Institute has focused both on providing broader availability to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and also on raising awareness to CBT throughout the country.
The CBT Institute maintains a staff of therapist, psychiatrists, and in-the-field escorts. The therapist meet with the patient for individual (one-on-one) therapy typically once weekly, and assigns the patient assignments and exercises to practice in between sessions. The escort meets with the patient in-the-field to help them practice their news skills in real-life situations. The psychiatrist is responsible for medication monitoring if needed.
For your convenience, CBT Institute has locations around the country: Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Modi’in, Netanya, Haifa, and Krayot.
