Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a relaxation tool which was developed to increase a patient’s awareness to the influence he has over certain physiological functions in the body. The patient is connected to a biofeedback monitoring system via sensors which measure heart rate, respiration, and body temperature. The system reflects these parameters in real-time to the patient via a display. Via this feedback the patient is able to practice and improve his influence over stress levels in the body. Biofeedback is appropriate for ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders and certain motoric problems. Biofeedback has been researched extensively both in medical and psychological arenas, and many clinicians advise incorporate biofeedback into other treatment plans.

The CBT Institute offers biofeedback either as a sole treatment option or as part of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment plan.
